About Installation
A professional installation will assure that your network connection is operating at its very best. Every installation comes with a limited service warantee and includes a free site survey to assure that you can connect reliably and enjoy broadband as it was intended to be... FAST!
Learning to manage your system is required as a member of the Webcats Wi-Fi network. Trouble in the quality of your connection can effect your neighbors connection. We are very "club like" because we depend upon each other to maintain healthy connections to the Webcats wireless "backbone". Webcats provides tools and phone support to help you get trained even after your installation.
We exclude applicants that can not work together in a friendly working relationship. Our members count on us to approve only the best applicants and we jealously guard the network on their behalf.

Standard Residential Installation & Training
Standard residential installation includes configuration of radio and antenna mounted to home with up to 5ft mast and 50ft of cat5 cabling. The installation is typically on an exterior wall with cat5 cable passing through the wall. A wall socket is not included in the standard installation. RF cables are confined to 10ft in length to reduce signal loss.
We will set-up your radio and fine tune it for your location. Many radios now come with a built-in router (ask if your radio solution includes an on board router). We will set-up a single computer that is connected by wire to the router, as well as train you how to re-boot and maintain your system.
During the process of testing and installing your equipment, we will introduce you to the basics of monitoring and managing your network connection. That training is supported by additional information in the forum backroom.

Additional services and/or steep, hazardous or difficult installation time is billable. Available services range from wireless and wired networks for your home, virus clean-up and protection, LAN card installation, print server set-up, general computer repair and so on. Let us know if you want these additional services before you call someone else. Webcats Wi-Fi residential network members get deep discounts on service.
Our residential service call rate of $79.99/hr is discounted to $49.99/hr per man for Webcats residential Wi-Fi network members.

The installation is typically on an exterior wall with cat5 cable passing through the wall. A wall socket is not included in the standard installation. RF cables are confined to 10ft in length to reduce signal loss.
We will set-up your router and a single computer that is connected by wire to the router, as well as train you how to re-boot and maintain your system.

Self Installation & Forum Support
Mount the unit on your house then run a single wire to your computer.
Self installation is limited to short range solutions only and MUST be mounted outside and facing the tower with clear line of sight. Medium to long range solutions require "expert" installation and we no longer allow self installs on anything but the short range solution.
We strongly recommend that all of our users join the backroom of the forum and become familiar with the support pages. This is doubly so for self installers! We no longer pre-configure self installed systems and your equipment may require additional mounting equipment that does not come with the radio and antenna array. We do however still provide up to 50ft of cat5 cable and 2 RJ-45 connectors (unattached - crimpers required).
**Telephone support on self installs is restricted to two hours.
